What is the official ice-out?
  • When you can navigate by boat from the NYS Boat launch to the south end of the lake without obstructions.
Eligibility
  • Open to anyone 18+; no residency or purchase required.
  • SLPID commissioners, staff, and household members are not eligible.
  • One entry per person.
  • The closest predicted date to the official ice-out date, as determined by SLPID, wins.
  • Winner notified by email within 7 days after ice-out and announced on SLPID’s website/social media.
Rules highlights
  • If dates tie, the earliest submission wins.
  • By entering, you agree to these rules. SLPID reserves the right to modify or cancel the contest.
  • Winner’s name, town, and prediction may be used for promotional purposes.
